I’m Munish Arya, a seeker by temperament, a meditator by practice and was a tax administrator by profession.

My journey in public service began in 1993 when I joined the illustrious Customs and Central Excise Department. For 30 years, I served in various capacities across the landscape of indirect taxation, a career I found deeply engaging and rewarding. After taking Voluntary Retirement, I transitioned into the world of indirect tax consultancy, now assisting individuals and businesses who find themselves caught unawares in the intricate web of GST and other indirect tax laws.

Alongside this professional path, another journey was quietly unfolding. In September 2010, I attended my first Vipassana meditation course — ten days silent retreat that changed how I perceived life. That experience stirred something deep and lasting. One particular insight from that retreat stayed with me for years. I shared it with friends who resonated with it, and over time, it became the seed for this blog.

AryaMuni.in is not meant for teaching or preaching. It is simply a space to give words to thoughts that have grown within me over time. Some of them were born in meditation; others took shape in courtrooms, tax raids, audit rooms or late-night conversations. Here, I hope to share not only spiritual reflections, but also professional insights from years of navigating public administration and tax law, ideas that may help, provoke, or simply accompany others on their own journeys.

Outside of work and meditation, I’ve always found joy in physical movement and craftsmanship. I was an avid sportsperson, Table Tennis and long-distance running being my forte. Now I continue that connection through yoga. I hold a Yoga Protocol Instructor certification from the Ministry of AYUSH. My hands find peace in woodworking and gardening.

I also volunteer with an NGO, Kudrat Welfare Trust, that coordinates blood and Single Donor Platelet (SDP) donations, a cause close to my heart. It’s a small way of serving life at its most urgent and human moments.

Lastly, the name “Arya Muni” — translating to “Noble Sage” — is not a self-proclaimed title, but a direction. A quiet aspiration toward clarity, truth and simplicity.
